XTC-King for a Day

ポップ音楽の楽しみ方は人それぞれと思うのですが、私にとってはメロディやシンガーの声、リズムも大事なんですが、歌詞というものはどうしても外せない要素なんです。その時代を切り取り、なおかつ普遍性をもった歌詞って存在するものだな、と思います。

昨日、ふと頭に浮かんだこのXTCの『King for a day』。
89年の『Oranges&Lemons』というアルバムに収録されてます。

XTCには『Mayor of Simpleton』 『Peter Pumpkinhead』など他にも有名で、みなさんがお好きな曲があると思います。自分は断然この『King for a day』が好きですけどwww

詞が大好きなのですが、特に89年当時は

Cause life don't mean much if measured out with someone else's plight

のあたりが好きでした。今全体を通して見るともっと良さが。

年取って振り返ればこの辺もとても良い。
